Randall Dooley is a geek. His three best friends are geeks too, he
works in a game shop, he spends all his free time playing online games,
his older brother bullies him unmercifully, his widowed mom doesn’t
understand him, and he’s hopelessly in love with the prettiest
cheerleader in high school.
In short, he’s a loser.
All of that changes when he hears of the Lord of the Rings gaming competition in Orlando, Florida. Finally! Meaning in life!
Randall’s guild of online-gaming geeks is the best around. They’re a
cinch to win their area and gain a spot in Orlando. However, right
before the regionals, Randall is framed for drugs by a gaming rival and
expelled from high school. He’s grounded for life and going
nowhere-least of all, the gaming competition in Orlando.
After the principal refuses to believe the evidence showing he’s
innocent, Randall is left with only one option: vindication at the
gaming competition. He and his gaming friends steal the class car,
rebuilt by the inept hand of students in auto shop and hit the road.
Evading capture by Randall’s older brother, the four friends fall in
with a commune of hippies in the forest, get in a paintball war and
finally make it to Orlando with the assistance of a hamburger-loving
vegetarian hippie.
At the gaming competition, Randall and his friends evade capture by
the security guards in order to reach the convention commissioner.
Vindicated of guilt, they enter the competition and find victory, true
love and sweet revenge.
The Fellows Hip: Rise of the Gamers is a buddy-comedy written in
honor of online gamers and The Lord of the Rings. Full of
Tolkien-references and good-hearted parody, The Fellows Hip will appeal
to Tolkien-fans and gamers alike, as well as anyone who’s never been
part of the in-crowd.
