David Pawson: Unlocking The Bible

The Bible contains great variety, having over forty human authors, writing over a period of fourteen hundred years. It also exhibits remarkable unity with one divine editor blending all its parts into one whole.

In this series of videos covering each of the 66 books, the writers and writings of the Bible are explored with a view to answering one simple question: why was this book written? In each case there is a human answer (the immediate situation) and a divine answer (the ultimate purpose). Both prove to be the keys to unlock each book for the interested reader. “The Bible has become a new book for me” was the typical reaction of listeners to the original series of talks.

These DVDs are the fruit of forty years of studying and teaching the Bible by noted speaker and author, David Pawson, whose audio and DVD Bible teaching ministry has distributed several million copies reaching over 120 countries and whose books include “The Normal Christian Birth”, “Truth to Tell”, “The Road to Hell”, “When Jesus Returns”, “Once Saved, Always Saved?”, “Fourth Wave”,“Explaining the Resurrection”, “Explaining Water Baptism”, and “Is the Blessing (Toronto) Biblical?”

    The proper view of self
    Faith
    Divine Revelations
    Prayer
    Healing and physiological teachings

A sudden and unexpected revolution has begun. Some have hailed this revolution as a much-needed purification of the church, while other are saying that it will lead to a major schism in Christianity unless church comes face-to-face with undeniable truth: We must be certain that what we believe is firmly based upon the clear teaching of God’s Word alone. The only real remedy for deception and apostasy is a return to a true biblical foundation for Christian living. Now, in Beyond Seduction, Dave Hunt thoroughly explores the biblical and historical view of Christian teachings within the church.

Full Flame Film Series (2007)

Lost at Sea
RUNTIME 12:00 minutes
From one heartbeat to the next, your pleasant, predictable pleasure cruise is plunged into the life and death urgency of a rescue at sea. In 12 breath-taking minutes, everything you thought you knew about yourself, your church, and your fundamental purpose is turned upside down! Comfortable detachment meets gripping reality. Lives – souls! – are at stake. What should you do? What will you do? Imagine the conversations that will start.

The matchless message (China)
RUNTIME 29:35 minutes
The journey begins—an epic adventure that will span continents, open hearts ... and redefine the essence of evangelism! The theme is love: God’s unwavering, limitless love in action – reaching to the ends of our troubled earth to bring the prodigals home. With intimate encounter, moving dramatization, and grand spectacle, we are reminded that proclaiming that love is our privilege and purpose. Because ours are the only arms God has to embrace the lost!

Who Jesus calls and equips (Brazil)
The Art of the Impossible (Egypt)
RUNTIME 26:20 minutes
In settings of timeless splendor, worlds apart, come messages of encourage- ment to strengthen even the most hesitant hearts: Jesus did not choose the elite as his disciples; He chose ordinary men and equipped them to do the extraordinary. He still does. To rescue the lost of our time, God chooses us – not because of what we are, but because of what He makes of us! With the truth and power of the gospel at our command, He sends us forth, stands with us, and “makes all things possible.”

How I learned Faith (Kenya)
How to conquer Fear (Indonesia)
RUNTIME 32:45 minutes
As wondrous as seeing God’s hand at work, is the power that answers our faith in “things not seen.” When we move beyond a Sunday-kind of faith to faith as a lifestyle, we open a connection to God that makes wonderful things possible. For soul-winners, faith is the essential element that helps us face problems with confidence, challenge fear, and go on. Fired by faith, we become true “conductors” of God’s power, allowing His love to flow through us.

Fire - the Ensign of the Gospel (Australia)
Relying on the Anointing (Japan)
RUNTIME 26:39 minutes
Could we be missing the point when it comes to the Holy Spirit? Do we look for the fireworks, or God’s purpose?  Decide for yourself in this provocative exploration of the potential and purpose of “the great waves of power,” conferred by the fire of the Spirit. Contemplate God’s great investment in us. Consider the strength of passion transformed into compassion, faith emboldened to action. Then taste the confidence of knowing we reach out for lost mankind with the full weight of heaven behind us.

Living in the Miraculous (India)
The Power of Proclamation (Russia)
RUNTIME 23:26 minutes
The truth is: The miraculous is not a spectator sport; it’s a participation event! The Acts of the Apostles could be written because the apostles acted. The gospel happens when we preach the gospel. Our God is a “now!” God, whose sovereign will works through us – when we take action. When we hesitate or wait hopefully for works of power to occur, the miraculous waits on us!  But when we step out and speak out boldly in His name, miracles are not only possible, but likely.

The Man is the Message (Germany)
The Revival Detonator (United Kingdom)
RUNTIME 30:56 minutes
In an episode both humbling and uplifting, we examine two essentials no messenger of the gospel should ever be without: Humility and Prayer. With an inspiring example, we are reminded that our role is not to upstage God! When prideful of our own strength and eloquence, we are in danger of seeking our glory rather than His. But with prayer as our lifeline, we work in harmony with our Father’s will – and the face we show the world is not ours, but His.

Principles for Success (USA)
RUNTIME 31:21 minutes
Reinhard Bonnke shares key principles related to personal evangelism, and concludes by praying for God to ignite a passion in our hearts for the lost within our reach. He reminds us that God always makes His servants equal to the tasks He assigns us ... and then the Holy Spirit falls.

The Bible Code II: Apocalypse and Beyond (2004)

Supporters and detractors debate the merits of the controversial theory that the scriptures contain a sophisticated mechanism for predicting the future.

Decide for yourself whether the scriptures say much more than many believe.
The follow-up to The History Channel's acclaimed special, The Bible Code.
Experts share the secrets of the code--and skeptics explain why it doesn't exist.

THE BIBLE CODE introduced millions of people to the controversial theory that the pages of the scriptures contain a code holding the secrets to past and future events. This follow-up program, again assembles some of the code's leading adherents and practitioners to show how to read the Bible's shadow text, while critics persuasively rebut their extraordinary claims and interpretations with a host of arguments suggesting the code is a statistical anomaly at best. Learn of the military's interest in the code, and compare what it purportedly says with other sources of Biblical prophecy.

The Bible Code: Predicting Armageddon (2003)

Experts like CalTech's Barry Simon debate the theory that the Scriptures contain a highly accurate prophetic system.

Does the Bible hold within it hidden messages about people and events such as Hitler, Napoleon and 9/11?
Experts from both sides of the issue present their best cases.
Find out how the alleged code works — and what it suggests for our future.

There are those who believe that the Old Testament is filled with predictions. If one knows where to look, and how, there are references to figures like Hitler, Napoleon and Einstein, and events including the Second World War and the attacks of 9/11. And, of course, there are signs of what the future holds.

THE BIBLE CODE analyzes this controversial theory with the help of leading lights on both sides of the issue. Code researchers like Roy A. Reingold tell how the ancient code works, and what it says, while skeptics from top institutions like MIT and CalTech weigh in on the other side of the issue, though not everyone in academia believes that the code must be false.

Take a balanced look at the surprising theory that holds that, in some ways, the scriptures are the world's first computer program.

The War Prayer (1997)

"The War Prayer," a short story or prose poem by Mark Twain, is a scathing indictment of war, and particularly of blind patriotic and religious fervor as motivations for war. The structure of the work is simple, but effective: An unnamed country goes to war, and patriotic citizens attend a church service for soldiers who have been called up. The people call upon their God to grant them victory and protect their troops. Suddenly, an "aged stranger" appears and announces that he is God's messenger. He explains to them that he is there to speak aloud the second part of their prayer for victory, the part which they have implicitly wished for but have not spoken aloud themselves: the prayer for the suffering and destruction of their enemies. What follows is a grisly depiction of hardships inflicted on war-torn nations by their conquerors. The story ends pessimistically with the man, perhaps not surprisingly, being ignored.

Diary Of Revival: 1904 Welsh Awakening (2003)

Over the course of Christian history there have been times of revival when the Holy Spirit is powerfully manifested among the people of God. One of the most far-reaching revivals ever took place in 1904 in Wales. In this program you will see how the revival broke out and how it changed lives and impacted the entire society.

Through use of contemporary letters, interviews and photographs, this program examines the 1904 Welsh Revival through the eyes and thoughts of the Revivalist himself, 26-year-old Evan Roberts. From his conversion at 13 to the outbreak of Revival in November, 1904, the story traces the steps in his spiritual development from the coal mine and blacksmith's shop to the grammar school at Newcastle Emlyn and the actual outbreak of Revival at his home church of Moriah Lougher.

Many are convinced we urgently need spiritual revival in the world today. God worked through 26-year-old Evan Roberts many years ago. Viewers are finding this program a strong stimulus to seek a new manifestation of God's power in our day and age.

Livy thinks on a much grander scale: the world, ancient civilizations, far away places. Ray's farm utilizes the help of Japanese Americans from a nearby Japanese American internment camp to help work the farm. Livy befriends two well-educated Japanese American women who were working the farm, Flora and Rose (Tania Gunadi and Gwendoline Yeo). She finds comfort and familiarity in their friendship. Livy is polite and civil to her new husband and his sister Martha (Mare Winningham), but she harbors feelings for the father of the baby, a World War II soldier, and feelings of guilt for the pregnancy. Ray, however, is caring, patient, and supportive of Livy, but the fact that she does not want him hurts him deeply. Girls... meet Sissy Pike. She looks like you, talks like you, and yes, has to deal with life just like you. The only difference is, all her drama, heartbreak, and embarrassment is right here, available for your viewing pleasure.

In Episode One, New Girl in Town, Sissy’s life has become a whirlwind of change. Formerly a Navy Chaplin, Sissy’s father becomes Pastor of a church in the Midwest. And the move from sunny, funky California to the heartland of the Midwest brings on a new kind of culture shock for Sissy as well as the residents of the picturesque town. When the school “princess” takes issue with Sissy’s style of dress, Sissy must come to grips with small town and small church politics. In the end, she learns that moderation and kindness can make the worst situations tolerable.

Featuring Harleigh Jean Upton as "Sissy Pike" and Directed by Willie Aames (Bibleman, Charles in Charge, Eight is Enough).

Jake's Corner (2008)

Inspired by events surrounding the tragic death of former Chicago Cub All-Star 3rd baseman Ron Santo’s parents.

Ex-football star Johnny Dunn (Richard Tyson) walked away from the game early in his career to live a relatively secluded life far from the spotlight in a small, desert town he owns called Jake’s Corner. Jake’s Corner is a rest stop for travelers crossing the Arizona desert, but for the people who live there (Diane Ladd, B.J. Thomas, and others), it’s a rest stop for life.

Johnny’s quiet life is altered dramatically when his young nephew Spence is unexpectedly dropped at his doorstep. The boy brings a childlike innocence to this town of adults who, in turn, get to share their homegrown wisdom with him.

42: The Jackie Robinson Story (2013)

The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson and, under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey, Robinson's signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African-American player to break the baseball color barrier. The story focuses mostly on the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers season and somewhat on Robinson's 1946 season with the Montreal Royals.

In 1945, Jackie Robinson and his team, the Kansas City Monarchs, stop by a gas station. When the attendant refuses Robinson entry to the washroom, Robinson says they will find another station at which to fill up the team bus, and the attendant relents. As Robinson comes out, a scout for the Dodgers approaches him and sends him to Brooklyn. He is offered a $600/month contract and $3,500 signing bonus, which Robinson accepts after being warned he must control his temper if he wants to play. Robinson proposes to his girlfriend, Rachel, by phone and she accepts.

During Dodgers spring training, Robinson makes it to the franchise farm team in Montreal. After a great season there and spring training in Panama, he advances to the Dodgers. Most of the team soon signs a petition stating they refuse to play with Robinson, but manager Leo Durocher insists Robinson will play. Durocher is then suspended, leaving the Dodgers without a manager.

In a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, manager Ben Chapman taunts Robinson, causing him to go back to the dugout and smash his bat to vent his anger. With encouragement from Rickey, Robinson then returns to the field and hits a single, steals second and third base, and scores the winning run. When Chapman's behavior toward Robinson generates bad press for the team, the Phillies' owner requires him to pose with Robinson for newspapers and magazine photos. Later, Robinson's teammate, Pee Wee Reese, comes to understand the pressure Robinson is facing, and makes a public show of solidarity, standing with his arm around Robinson's shoulders before a hostile crowd in Cincinnati.

Robinson's home run against Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Fritz Ostermueller, who had earlier hit him in the head, helps clinch the National League pennant for the Dodgers, sending them to the World Series. A concluding postscript describes how Rickey, Robinson, and many of his teammates went on to have distinguished careers, including inductions into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The notes also describe the entrance of other African Americans into the Major Leagues, beginning with the season after Robinson's debut.

Hotel Rwanda (2004)

Tensions between the Hutu and Tutsi peoples lead to a war in Rwanda, where corruption and bribes between politicians are routine. Paul Rusesabagina (Cheadle), the manager of the Sabena owned Hôtel des Mille Collines, is Hutu, but his wife Tatiana (Okonedo), is Tutsi. His marriage is a source of friction with Hutu extremists, most prominently Georges Rutaganda (Kae-Kazim), a friendly goods supplier to the hotel who is also the local leader of Interahamwe, a brutal anti-Tutsi militia.
The characters Rusesabagina and Colonel Oliver negotiating through a political impasse.

As the political situation in the country worsens, Paul and his family observe neighbours being killed in ethnic violence. Paul curries favour with people of influence, bribing them with money and alcohol, seeking to maintain sufficient influence to keep his family safe. When civil war erupts and a Rwandan Army officer threatens Paul and his neighbours, Paul barely negotiates their safety, and brings everyone to the hotel. More refugees come to the hotel from the overburdened United Nations camp, the Red Cross, and orphanages. Paul must divert the Hutu soldiers, care for the refugees, be a source of strength to his family, and maintain the appearance of a functioning luxury hotel as the situation becomes more violent.

The UN Peacekeeping forces, led by Canadian Colonel Oliver (Nolte), are unable to take assertive action against the Interahamwe since they are forbidden to intervene in the genocide. The foreign nationals are evacuated, but the Rwandans are left behind. When the UN forces attempt to evacuate a group of refugees, including Paul's family, they are ambushed and must turn back. In a last-ditch effort to save the refugees, Paul pleads with the Rwandan Army General, Augustin Bizimungu (Mokoena) for assistance. However, when Paul's bribes no longer work, he blackmails the General with threats of being tried as a war criminal. Soon after, the family and the hotel refugees are finally able to leave the besieged hotel in a UN convoy. They travel through retreating masses of refugees and militia to reach safety behind Tutsi rebel lines.

The film's epilogue displays a series of graphics stating that Rusesabagina saved 1,268 Rwandan refugees at the Hôtel des Mille Collines, and now lives in Belgium with his family. It also notes that Rutaganda and General Bizimungu were tried and convicted by the UN for war crimes in 2002, as almost a million people died by the time the genocide ended in July 1994.
