Blue Like Jazz (2012)

Don, a nineteen-year-old sophomore at a Texas junior college, tries to escape his Bible Belt upbringing for life in the Pacific Northwest at “the most godless campus in America.”

I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn’t resolve. I used to not like God because God didn’t resolve. But that was before any of this happened. In Donald Miller’s early years, he was vaguely familiar with a distant God. But when he came to know Jesus Christ, he pursued the Christian life with great zeal. Within a few years he had a successful ministry that ultimately left him feeling empty, burned out, and, once again, far away from God. In this intimate, soul-searching account, Miller describes his remarkable journey back to a culturally relevant, infinitely loving God.

Walking the Bible

The story of one man's epic journey through the greatest biblical stories ever told.

Both a heart-racing adventure and an uplifting quest, Walking the Bible presents one man's epic journey—by foot, jeep, rowboat, and camel—through the greatest stories ever told. From crossing the Red Sea to climbing Mount Sinai to touching the burning bush, Bruce Feiler's inspiring odyssey will forever change your view of history's most legendary events.

The stories in the first five books of the Bible come alive as Feiler searches across three continents for the stories and heroes shared by Christians and Jews. You'll visit the slopes of Mount Ararat, where Noah's ark landed, trek to the desert outpost where Abraham first heard the words of God, and scale the summit where Moses received the Ten Commandments. A once-in-a-lifetime journey, Walking the Bible offers new insights into the roots of two common faiths and uncovers fresh answers to some of the most profound questions of the human spirit.

Solomon and Sheba (1959)

Behold! The love story of the ages!
Yul Brynner stars as the legendary figure of the Bible in King Vidor's only contribution to this popular 1950s genre.
When aged King David (Finlay Currie) has a vision from God telling him that Solomon should succeed him as ruler of the Israelites, David heeds His word. This angers his martial brother, Adonijah (George Sanders), who threatens to wrest the throne from his younger brother.
Israel thrives under the reign of the wise king, and its success creates uneasiness among the powerful kingdoms of the region. The pharaoh conspires with Sheba (Gina Lollobrigida), granting her access to the Red Sea that she might beseige Solomon with her charm, thereby luring the ruler to his doom. Solomon is dazzled by the queen's beauty and quickly falls under her sway.
As the king's attention is turned away from the Lord and the welfare of his people, the country begins to deteriorate. The Lord finally expresses his displeasure with the prevailing atmosphere of licentiousness by destroying the Temple of Jehovah. The chastened Solomon grasps the error of his ways, and a transformed Sheba decides to convert to Judaism.
Solomon And Sheba is the great director's final film, and while it might not be up to the standard he set with Duel In The Sun, The Big Parade, and The Champ, it has an undeniably entertaining camp value that makes it worth watching.

The Hidden Faith Of The Founding Fathers (2010)

The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers is perhaps the first and only documentary to go where no film has ever gone before, confronting the little known beliefs of America’s founders. Conservative Christian leaders often claim that the revolutionaries were godly men who were trying to build a Christian nation. But was their faith the true faith of the Bible? Or is it possible that the exact opposite is true?
The real questions are: What did the founders believe about Jesus Christ? Christianity begins with faith in the Person of Christ Himself: what did the founders think of Him? What did they think of the Gospel? Were they fighting for Christianity, or against it?

This is the remarkable true story of Corrie and her sister Betsie’s endurance of the death camp, and their sure hope that God alone is the true hiding place.

The Hiding Place remains the most popular movie ever produced by World Wide Pictures, the motion picture ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “The Hiding Place” stars Julie Harris, Eileen Heckart, Arthur O’Connell, and Jeannette Clift in her Golden Globe nominated role as Corrie ten Boom. With the Nazi invasion of Holland, the ten Boom family joins the underground resistance to help save persecuted Jewish families. But when they are arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps themselves, they’re left with nothing to cling to but their faith. Painstakingly restored, this amazing true story of Holocaust survivor Corrie ten Boom has been called “one of the 10 best films of 1975″ (Jeffrey Lyons).

Rejoice and Shout (2010)

It's all but impossible to discuss African-American culture or America's musical heritage without talking about Gospel Music. Just as the church was an integral part of the African-American community from the time slaves were first brought to the colonies, music played a crucial role in their spiritual experience from the beginning, and as various forms of African and rural music coalesced into gospel, gospel in turn became the foundation that later spawned jazz, blues, soul and even rap. And gospel music became the stepping-stone into the spotlight for many of music most influential artists, who in turn helped bring new ideas into the gospel sound, keeping it fresh and innovative. Filmmaker Don McGlynn, who specializes in documentaries about American music, chronicles the history of African-American gospel music in the film REJOICE AND SHOUT, which reveals the true story of this powerful and influential musical form and the people who helped to make it great. REJOICE AND SHOUT received its world premiere at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival.

Roger Oakland: The Emerging Church (2007)

A trend is sweeping the world that promises to change the way Christianity will be presented in the twenty-first century. While the seeker-friendly era attempted to bring a generation of baby-boomers to Jesus, promoters of the emerging church say new methods are required to reach the postmodern generation that is hungry for spiritual experiences. The emerging church endeavors to attract unbelievers to Christ by providing these experiences. Many Pastors and church leaders are weaving together elements from different religious traditions. Emergent church leaders say that in order to go ahead, we must go back in time and reintroduce mystical techniques that include the introduction of candles, incense, icons, statues, prayer stations and sacraments. While proponents believe the emerging church is the key to revival, others are concerned and claim that may be part of the last days apostasy described in the Bible. In The Emerging Church: Revival or Return to Darkness? Roger Oakland documents the extra-biblical nature of the emerging church.

Criba (2011)

The cult of Holy Death is growing in popularity and influence throughout Latin America. In this video drama the main character struggles in three worlds. The religious world he experiences inside the cult is dark, animistic, and full of cultic rituals. The material world he lives in is driven by drugs and the pursuit of wealth. Pulling against these two, the third world draws him into a spiritual world where he searches for God and a deeper meaning for life. His resulting spiral leads toward a tragic end and sends a powerful warning against this cult.
The goal of Criba is to sound a wake-up call for the church - to help educate young people about this cult and help them avoid falling into its deadly trap.

Adicciones (2010)

Generally, most people seem to ignore the problem of an addiction. The mentality is that if the addict really wants to, they can get rid of their addiction. Although many will cover addicts in prayer in hopes that they will find healing, most do not take the time to try to understand the depth of hopelessness an addiction brings into a life.
Addiction is a condition in which the body requires a substance to avoid symptoms that cause severe physical and psychological illness. The addict creates a dependency on the substance, which eventually dominates his or her life. Their body develops a tolerance to the drug, causing them to crave more and more of the substance in order to get the previous effects.

Adicciones shows that as Christians, we can more fully understand the needs of the individual addict as well as find ways to help them overcome their addictions. It is our hope that you are able to find useful information that will help you more clearly see the world of the addict, and that in the process you are led to an encounter with the Lord Jesus. He welcomes the broken with open arms to His church where they can be released from the bondage of their addiction.
